Upon arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport you will be greeted by the Airport Representative and Professional Chauffer of Ayubowan Tours & Travels. Your chauffer will drive you to Mirissa by highway visiting the Galle Dutch Fort which was built first in 1588 by the Portuguese, then extensively fortified by the Dutch during the 17th century. It’s a historical, archaeological and architectural heritage monument which has been recognized as a world heritage site. Sightseeing of different beautiful southern beaches until Mirissa, Witness the Stilt Fishermen en-route. Stilt fishing is a method of fishing unique to the island. The fishermen sit on a cross bar called a “petta” tied to a vertical pole and driven in to the sand a few meters offshore. Mirissa is known to be the beach to just lay back. The beach is ideal for snorkeling, surfing & whale watching boat trips. It has developed a reputation as a party destination for the travelers and also popular for seafood restaurants. Leave for Yala visiting different beaches on the way. Reach Yala National Park by afternoon and enjoy the wild life by a safari jeep. Yala is famous for its elephant population, seen in small and large herds, spotted deer, Sambhur, Barking deer, Monkey, Wild Buffalo, Wild Boar, Sloth Bear and innumerable varieties of birds endemic and migratory. Peacock is the most famous of the birds at Yala. Overnight Tissamaharama or Kataragama.
After breakfast leave for Ella visiting Buduruwagala Ancient Buddhist Temple. The complex consists of seven statues and belongs to the Mahayana school of thought. The statues date back to the 10th century. Visit Ravana Falls on the way. Ravana Falls is currently ranking as one of the widest falls in the country. It is a gorgeous beautiful waterfall just by the main road which can have a view from the main road. Feel the beauty of the nature while doing the sightseeing in and around Ella by walking around. After breakfast leave for Little Adams Peak which has a fantastic view on the top. It takes about an hour to walk up to the top and the path is well laid out. The views once you are at the top are simply stunning. Visit Nine Arches Bridge and other sightseeing nearby. Stay at leisure and enjoying the dinner at a restaurant in Ella city will be memorable. Leave for Ella Station to experience the best train journey in Sri Lanka through misty mountains and tea gardens. Packet breakfast will be arranged as the best train journey starts at around 06.40 a.m. in the morning. Our chauffer will be dropped you to the station in Ella and he will be picked you up in Nanuoya (Nuwaraeliya) once again without any delay as he gets an easy way to Nuwaraeliya. The train journey will be about 3 hours. Meet the driver at the station and leave for Kandy visiting a tea factory and tea gardens. Visit a tea factory around Ramboda will be a fantastic stop through misty mountains as you can enjoy with a cup of tea (world famous “Ceylon Tea”) and also you can buy fresh products from their outlet. Overnight Kandy.
After breakfast leave for Peradeniya to visit the Royal Botanical Garden. It’s renowned for its collection of orchids. The garden includes more than 4000 species of plants, including orchids, spices, medicinal plants and palm trees. Thereafter visit the Temple of the Tooth which houses the Sacred Tooth of Lord Buddha. Visitors can observe poojas (offerings) the ancient traditions of drumming and sacred chanting in honor of the Tooth Relic. Witness the Cultural Dancing Show in the evening. It’s a stimulating of Sri Lankan Arts, Dance and Cultural Heritage with traditional dancer’s & drummer’s performance. Overnight Kandy.
After breakfast proceed to Sigiriya. Visit Sri Muttumariamman Hindu Temple at Matale, one of the visually dominant features of this temple is its 32.9 m (108 ft) high Gopuram ('Raja Gopuram'), a large decorated tower with 1008 statues of Hindu Deitees located above the main northern gateway. It is recommended to visit a Herbal Spice Garden at Matale to learn about Sri Lanka’s world renowned spices and a lot of different herbs. Visit Dambulla Cave Temple which is the largest and best preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka. Its rock ceiling is one large sweep of colorful paintings which related to Lord Buddha and his life. Some of them are over 2000 years old. Experience a Village Tour which will be operated in a small village called Hiriwaduna. This will be a 2.5hrs tour through the village and you will be having an opportunity to experience the nature and the culture of a real Sri Lankan rural village. Tour starts with a Bullock cart ride and will be taking to a pond to have a Catamaran boat ride to the other side of the village. You may have a short walk through paddy fields, vegetable gardens and will be able to witness the traditional cocking demonstration. Also you will be able to enjoy a traditional Sri Lankan lunch (rice & curry) at a Mud house. Overnight Sigiriya.
After breakfast leave for Sigiriya, visit the rock fortress. This rock fortress was built by King Kasyapa in the 5th century A.D. and was a royal citadel for more than 18 years. The Sigiriya site contains the ruins of an upper palace located on the flat top of the rock, a mid level terrace that includes the Lion Gate and the mirror wall with its frescoes, the lower palaces clings to the slopes below the rocks. The site was both a palace and a fortress. Leave for Minneriya to experience a wild safari in the afternoon by a safari jeep. Minneriya is a hot spot for safari lovers because of its abundance of elephants. Over 200 elephants converge to enjoy the tank with the receding water level to play and make merry. After breakfast leave for Polonnaruwa, medieval capital of the island (11th & 12th century). Polonnaruwa shows the interesting blend of the influence of the South Indian Hindu culture on the Sinhala Buddhist art & architecture in the scattered shrines & monuments still venerated daily by devotees. The Siva Devalas are interesting transposition of the Hindu style of décor. Other popular ruins are, the King’s Council Chamber the floral stone pillars of Nissanka Lata Mandapaya, the royal citadel, Kumara Pokuna, the Thuparama with its original vaulted roof, the exquisite circular Vatadage relic house, lavished with moonstones, guardstones and sculptured railings, Kiri Vehera, the best preserved of Sri Lanka’s un-restored dagobas. Visit Gal Vihare, the massive statues of Buddha cut in a row form a horizontal escarpment of streaked granite. Visit Demala Maha Seya a shrine of noval design, Thivanka Image House which is famous for Buddhist frescoes, Lankathilake Viharaya, shows a unique style of brickwork architecture. Visit Parakrama Samudraya made by King Parakramabhahu, one of the largest man made inland lakes in the world. Can be visited the statue of Parakramabahu near the lake. It’s a large statue cut in a niche carved out of rock. Proceed to Trincomelee which is located on the east coast of the island overlooking the Trincomalee Harbor (ranked as the world’s 5th largest natural harbors) Overnight Nilaveli/Trincomalee.
In Trincomalee at leisure. A short boat ride off the beach and you may visit the Pigeon Island near Nilveli. It is famous for diving, snorkeling & sea bathing. Nilaveli beach is a popular destination amongst sun worshippers and it is surrounded by rocky islets. Overnight Nilaveli/Trincomalee.
Leisure at Trincomalee. On the beach and sightseeing such as the Thirukoneswaram Kovil, Kanniyai hot water springs, Fort Fredrick, Trincomalee war cemetery and beautiful sandy beaches (Nilaveli & Uppuveli) Overnight Nilaveli / Trincomalee.
After breakfast proceed to Negombo. Leisure at hotel in the evening and enjoy the dinner. Negombo is popular for its long sandy beaches and centuries old fishing industry. Overnight Negombo.
