After breakfast explore the history of the dynamic city of Negombo. Treat yourself to a varied experience and visit Negombo's famous fish market, known as "Lellama". Stroll along the beach and watch the fishermen cast their nets and the fish being auctioned off and sold to individuals and businesses. Leave for Wilpattu. Overnight stay in Wilpattu.
Picnic breakfast & lunch. Asian elephants, spotted deer, barking deer, wild boar, Asian buffalo and Mugger crocodiles. Endemic birds include the Ceylon Junglefowl, the Brown-capped Babbler, the Ceylon Woodshrike and the Black-capped Bulbul in the habitats of the rivers. Muntjac or Barking Deer are more common in Wilpattu than in other national parks. Butterflies observed include the Greater Egg Fly, Greater Orange Shrew, Glad-eye Bushbrown, Blue Mormon, Common Mormon, Common Rose, and Carmine Red Rose. Make Full Day Jeep Safari at Wilpattu National Park. Wilpattu National Park is located on the northwest coast in the arid lowlands of Sri Lanka. It consists of a unique complex of lakes called Villus. These are natural pools filled with rainwater and surrounded by open grassy plains surrounded by dense jungle. After an early breakfast visit Anuradhapura. This city, located around 205Kms north of Colombo, is one of eight World Heritage Sites in Sri Lanka and is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world. Visit See the sacred Boo Tree, world famous Samadhi Buddha, the remains of the Brazen Palace and rock carvings. Overnight stay in Anuradhapura.
Breakfast at hotel. Leave for Jaffna. Jaffna is an ancient port city, which is one of the most densely populated areas of Sri Lanka, spread over an area of 2560 square km. The peninsula is almost an island except the narrow neck of land occupied by the Chundikkulam Bird Sanctuary and the causeway known as Elephant Pass which connects Jaffna with the rest of Sri Lanka. Most of the area of Jaffna is dry and sandy. Good amount of area of Jaffna district is covered by shallow lagoons. Jaffna has a thick population of the Tamil people, who are an ethnic minority in Sri Lanka, consisting of Christians & Hindus. When compared with other provinces of Sri Lanka, the people of Jaffna have a different culture, similar to that of Tamil Nadu in south India. Breakfast at hotel. Visit Kantharodai, which is the first archaeological site that found in the Jaffna. Nearly 62 dagobas were found during the excavation and they were built using limestone. According to archaeologists these stupas are date back to 2nd century. In legends it is stated that the stupas consist of buried fossils related to number of Buddhist monks who lived in Jaffna at that time and expired due to huger. Visit the bottomless well Nilaveri is geometrically square shaped. As the water of Nilavari well is fresh and drinkable, nearby farm lands uses this water for irrigation. Also the well never get dried up even in heavy drought is another reason for the usage. According the surveys done by the Sri Lankan marine department, the first 40ft of the well is fresh water and then turns salty in respect to the depth. Visit famous Hindu temple in Keerimalai. At Keerimalai the spring water floor is of great value. Bathing in its waters imparts healing medicinal benefits to the human body. The fresh water comes from an underground spring source. After breakfast leave for Trincomalee in the east coast of Sri Lanka. Make a city tour of Trincomalee. See the Kinniya hot water springs, the Foul Point Lighthouse, an Old Dutch fort, Thirukoneswaram Temple etc.
After breakfast visit Polonnaruwa, the island’s second largest kingdom and a World Heritage Site. Today the ancient city of Polonnaruwa remains one of the best planned Archeological relic sites in the country, standing testimony to the discipline and greatness of the Kingdom’s first rulers. You can admire the remains of the Royal Palace, Gal Vihara which is a group of beautiful Buddha images marking the high point of Sinhalese rock cravings, the Lotus Pond, the statue of King Parakramabahu and the historic Audience Hall. Breakfast at hotel. Visit the Sigiriya Rock Fortress. Sigiriya Rock Fortress is UNESCO World Heritage Site, is one of the most dramatic, inspiring and beautiful historical locations in the world. A mythical past of feuding dynasties suits Sigiriya’s striking setting- it was built in 5th century AD by king, Kasyapa, as a fortress-palace. The palace complex at the foot of the rock still has the remains of four indoor swimming pools where the king’s 500 concubines bathed. The palace structure was built with complex water arteries in the walls that provided natural air conditioning in the hot climate. On the summit, reached with the help of metal staircases and ladders, you can see the remains of the palace walls, gardens and ponds. The mirror walls of the Sigiriya rock still retain the world-famous frescoes of the king’s concubines, who originated from all parts of the world. Make a village tour in a bullock cart, one of the oldest modes of transport which is still prevalent in certain parts of the island. Step off the cart to start a hike across the village through the paddy fields and through home gardens. At each step of your way you will be met with a genuine smile of the unpretentious villagers. Walk along the banks of the lake until you meet your next mode of transportation; a Canoe ride. Paddle through the lake on the home made Canoe as you watch small exotic birds hopping from one aquatic plant to another. You will be invited to a cup of tea. Sitting at an elevation of 1,216 metres, it offers spectacular panoramic views of the mountain range, which makes for perfect Instagram shots. Picnic lunch. Visit the Nitro cave which is a massive cave in the Knuckles Mountain Range that’s inhabited by thousands of bats. But this isn’t the only part of the trek that will take your breath away. After breakfast leave for Nuwara eliya, known as “Little England”. See the mountains covered with tea bushes and cascading waterfalls. After breakfast leave for visit Lipton's Seat, Lipton’s Seat is perhaps the most popular attraction in Haputale. Lipton’s Seat is a popular vantage point, from where Thomas Lipton would sit with a cup of tea in hand and proudly look over his estate. Lipton’s Seat is a viewpoint named after the celebrated Thomas Lipton. From here you will see one of the most breathtaking views, as the sun rises, the hills turn from a dark blue to vibrant green, the sky transforms into a kaleidoscope of colour from lilac with a burst of pink and orange before finally turning blue… to say this view is beautiful almost seems like an understatement. This bridge is 300 feet in length, 25 feet in width and 80-100 feet in height.
