On arrival welcome by a Ayubowan Tours & Travels representative and transfer to hotel in Negombo. Unwind yourself after overnight flight.
After breakfast make a city tour of Negombo; See the fish market & fishing village which is stunning seaside town popular for its large harvests of lobsters, crabs and prawns. See the fish auctions down by the beach and followed by the visit to the remaining of the Dutch period, a Buddhist temple and a Catholic church and the bazaar. Stay overnight in Negombo. Optional Activity: * Make the Negombo city tour by TUK TUK * Make a Boat trip through the Dutch period canal, Lagoon & Sea. (Approx. 1 ½ Hours)
After breakfast leave for Aukana to see the tallest Buddha statue of Sri Lanka. Later visit Anuradhapura (a World Heritage Site), the first capital and undoubtedly the grandest city of the ancient Sri Lanka. Sri Maha Bodhi (sacred Bo-Tree) was brought as a sapling of the tree under which Prince Siddhartha attained to enlightment. It is over 2,200 years old and is the oldest historically documented tree in the world. At Brazen Palace (2nd Century B.C) with its 1600 stone colomns see the remains of a magnificent multi-storied residence for monks. Ruwanweliseya (2nd century B.C) is the most famous of all the Dagobas and the Isurumuniya rock temple (3rd Century B.C) is known for its rock carvings. Overnight stay at hotel in Habarana/Dambulla.
After breakfast visit Habarana local Village with experiencing the local cooking demonstration; and enjoying the Sri Lankan Lunch in the Village. Eating simple village food in rustic surroundings has its own taste and you would surely enjoy it. During your countryside visit you can enjoy various aspects of village life. You can see their lifestyle in close quarters and experience their joys and sorrows. You can understand how hard they work to earn their livelihood. You would see several works associated with day-to-day works of village life such as wood carving, bakery, farming, coconut tree climbing etc. Overnight stay at hotel in Habarana/Dambulla.
After breakfast visit to Polonnaruwa, which was the medieval capital of Sri Lanka from the 11th - 13th C.A.D. Great revival was achieved in the country, politically, economically and socially during the period of Kings Vijayabahu 1, Parakramabahu 1 and Nissankamalla of the Polonnaruwa period. Today Polonnaruwa is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the evening make the Jeep Safari at Minnariya National Park. Elephants gathering is the highlight of the National Park and are one the largest in the wild anywhere in the world. You may also see spotted deer, sambur, and dozens of species of birds. Overnight stay at hotel in Habarana/Dambulla. Optional Activity: * Guided Polonnaruwa city tour by bicycle( ½ day)
After breakfast explore the Sigiriya Rock Fortress which is a World Heritage site of 5th century AD, built by the King Kashyapa. Its home to water gardens, frescoes, ancient graffiti and commands an amazing view of Sri Lanka’s greenery. Afterwards visit the Dambulla rock cave temple built by king Walagambahu, in the 1st Century B.C. it is a World Heritage Site, and the most impressive of Sri Lanka’s cave temples. En route to Kandy visit a specie garden at Matale to learn about species and their use in Sri Lankan cuisines. Stay overnight in Kandy.
Breakfast at the hotel and visit the elephant orphanage in Pinnawela, established in 1975, commenced with seven orphans. Today some of these orphans enjoy the fortune of seeing their grandchildren born in the same location. Later visit Peradeniya Botanical Gardens and enjoy some sightseeing of Kandy such as the Temple of Tooth Relic, an arts and crafts work shop, oriental market place, a bazaar and a gem lapidary where you can see how rough gems (particularly the famous Blue & Star sapphires) are mined cut and polished using traditional methods and In the evening enjoy a cultural show and followed by special Rice & Curry Dinner. Stay overnight in Kandy Optional Activity: * Guided nature walk (about 2 hours) at Uda Watta Kale Sanctuary. This is a trek of rainforest rich in species that has enjoyed protection from historical times. It supports many species of bird life. Some of the common birds are Layard’s Parakeet, Gold fronted and blue winged Leafbirds, Spotted and Emerald Doves, Tickell’s Blue Flycatcher, Yellow-fronted, Crimson-fronted and Brown headed barbrts and Oriental Dwarf Kingfisher.
After breakfast go for scenic train journey from Kandy to Nanu-Oya (110km/approximate journey time 5 hours). Seats will be booked in the observation car and on arrival at Nanu-Oya and travelling through scenic mountains to Nuwara eliya, well known as “Little England”. Stop at the mountains covered with tea bushes and at waterfalls. Enjoy the magnificent landscape. Visit a tea factory, follow the tea trails to watch the interesting process and enjoy a freshly brewed cup of Ceylon tea and Stay overnight in Nuwara eliya.
Enjoy your breakfast in the hill country’s chill climate, leave for Yala via Ella Gap where you can enjoy the marvelous view over the hill country. In the evening enjoy a jeep safari at Yala national park, which is the largest in Sri Lanka and is home to wild elephants, wild boars, wild buffaloes, leopards, bears, deer and crocodiles. Large flocks of migratory and indigenous birds are also found here and Stay overnight in Tissa / Yala
After breakfast visit the Kataragama Hindu temple, where people of all religions come as pilgrims from all over the country. Later leave for the beach resort. Travel through Tangalle and Matara with long stretch of palm-fringed white sand, lapped by the warm waters of the Indian Ocean. At Koggala see the stilt fishermen seated on poles mounted. Make city tour of Galle where you can enjoy a little walk along the walls and narrow streets of Galle Dutch Fort. Overnight stay at hotel in South Coast.
After breakfast day at leisure by the beach and overnight stay at your beach resort
After Breakfast at the hotel Travel to Colombo stopping at Kosgoda Turtle Hatchery en route. It is home to Sri Lanka’s pioneering sea turtle conservation project, operated with the help of international volunteers. Later make a sightseeing tour of Colombo. Visit a Pettah, Colonial era remaining, Fort, Galle Face Green, and Independence Square, Old parliament House and visit picturesque Barie Lake Surroundings Hotel and overnight stay in Colombo.
After breakfast visit the Kelaniya Raja Maha Viharaya (Kelaniya Temple) which is built on the banks of the Kelani River, (which flows from Adam's Peak), the temple is said to be particularly sacred, Buddha supposedly having visited the site on his third visit to Sri Lanka. The temple is also famous for its image of the reclining Buddha and paintings which go back to before 500 BCE. Transfer to the airport for onwards flight.
