After breakfast explore the history of the dynamic city of Negombo. Treat yourself to a varied experience and visit Negombo's famous fish market, known as "Lellama". Stroll along the beach and watch the fishermen cast their nets and the fish being auctioned off and sold to individuals and businesses. Make a Boat trip through the Dutch period canal, Lagoon & Sea. Dutch Canal is a famous landmark - Experience something beyond the beaches of Negombo. Early breakfast at the hotel & leave for Kegalle Millennium Elephant Foundation. The volunteer program at Millennium Elephant Foundation plays a big role in running the sanctuary. International volunteers contribute to the daily tasks involved in caring for the elephants and help to continue developing MEF as a charity organization. Breakfast at the small touristic city of Sigiriya to the ancient ruined kingdom city of Polonnaruwa. Meet a family of monkeys at Primate study tour. Like humans, monkeys live in families, tribes and communities; they interact and build relationships just like us. On this tour you will have the chance to observe these fascinating creatures as they communicate with each other, following them through the jungle and watching them in their natural habitat. Following the destruction of Anuradhapura towards the end of the 10th century, the City became Sri Lanka’s royal capital, of both the Chola and Sinhalese kingdoms, and continued its glorious reign until the 13th century. The City itself is split: sitting side by side is Kaduruwela, the industrialised New Town, with the ancient royal city of Kingdom of Polonnaruwa. Later in the evening make a jeep safari at Minneriya national park, Minneriya National Park boasts an unusually wide range of habitat types. Minneriya National Park is considered an important feeding ground for elephants in the vicinity of Matale, Polonnaruwa and Trincomalee and is famed for its 'Elephant Gathering' -a spectacular phenomenon during the long dry seasons when hundreds of elephants can be seen feeding on the grasslands bordering the tank while others cool off in its refreshing water. This annual event is a unique spectacle attracting hundreds of wildlife fanatics every year but elephants are present here year round so you will have good chances of seeing them even if your travel dates do not coincide with the Elephant Gathering. En route to Kandy visit a spice garden in Matale to see many different types of spices Sri Lanka is famous for. You will be introduced to different spices and shown how some of these spices are grown and processed. Gardens are open to visitors, a delightful place to stroll in fragrant greenery and learn about nutmeg, pepper vines, clove trees and curry, cinnamon and the precious cardamom, a relative of ginger. Excursion to Situlpawwa, Elevate your mind at Situlpawwa Nestled deep within Yala National Park is an ancient rock temple rich in religious history. This is a living world heritage city with residents walking the 300-year-old ramparts at sunset. Strolling along the high rampart walls you will see the Old Dutch and English churches, the Governor's house, the massive VOC warehouses, the Square of Courts, the elegant pillared facade of the Old Dutch hospital, the Portuguese Black Fort, the lighthouse, the Clock Tower and much more.
