EXCURSION HIGHLIGHTS: PINNAWALA ELEPHANT ORPHANAGE, HERBAL SPICE GARDEN, TEA FACTORY, TEMPLE OF TOOTH, CITY TOUR IN KANDY..... Excursion starts from Colombo in the morning around 07.30 a.m. and return to the same hotel in the evening. Tour itinerary is as follows, Visit the Elephant Orphanage at Pinnawala on the way to Kandy. It’s an orphanage, nursery and captive breeding ground for wild Asian elephants. The orphanage was established to feed, nurse and house young/baby elephants found abandoned by their mothers. You will be able to feed them according to their time table. Our chauffer will instruct you about it. Visit an Herbal Spice Garden to learn about Sri Lanka’s world renowned spices and a lot of different herbs. Visitors are provided an insight into an age old industry of spice production, which attracted many of European and Asian merchants to the ports of Ancient Sri Lanka. Visit a Tea Factory en-route. It will be a fantastic stop through mountains as you can enjoy a cup of tea (world famous “Ceylon Tea”) and also you can visit the tea factory to educate about the production with a Guide from the tea factory. Also you will be able to purchase the fresh tea products from their outlet. Visit the Temple of Tooth which houses the Sacred Tooth of Lord Buddha. Wall of Clouds, Wall of Water Ripples, Octagon, Dragon Arch, Drummers’ Hall, Shrine Room, Main Entrance, Western Entrance, Granite Pillars, Moonstone, Museum, Inner Sanctum, Lacquer paintings, wood work, silver, brass and copper embosses, Audience Hall of the Last King, ‘Ul Pen Ge’ located in the lake where the queens use to bathe are the highlights of the temple. Conduct a sightseeing tour in Kandy City. (Bogambara) Lake, View Point of Kandy, Queens Hotel, Malwatta Chapter Temple Complex, Getambe Thotupala (Ferry) Temple are the major highlights of the city tour. Return to the same hotel.
