Explore the history of the dynamic city of Negombo. Treat yourself to a diverse experience and visit the famous Negombo fish market known as "Lellama". Walk along the beach and watch the fishermen cast their nets and the fish being auctioned and sold to private and commercial customers. Leave for Sigiriya. Early evening climb to Sigiriya Rock Fortress, Sigiriya Rock Fortress is UNESCO World Heritage Site, is one of the most dramatic, inspiring and beautiful historical locations in the world. A mythical past of feuding dynasties suits Sigiriya’s striking setting- it was built in 5th century AD by king, Kasyapa, as a fortress-palace. The palace complex at the foot of the rock still has the remains of four indoor swimming pools where the king’s 500 concubines bathed. The palace structure was built with complex water arteries in the walls that provided natural air conditioning in the hot climate. On the summit, reached with the help of metal staircases and ladders, you can see the remains of the palace walls, gardens and ponds. Today the ancient city of Polonnaruwa remains one of the best planned Archeological relic sites in the country, standing testimony to the discipline and greatness of the Kingdom’s first rulers. You can admire the remains of the Royal Palace, Gal Vihara which is a group of beautiful Buddha images marking the high point of Sinhalese rock cravings, the Lotus Pond, the statue of King Parakramabahu and the historic Audience Hall. Later in the evening make a jeep safari at Minneriya national park, Minneriya National Park boasts an unusually wide range of habitat types. Minneriya National Park is considered an important feeding ground for elephants in the vicinity of Matale, Polonnaruwa and Trincomalee and is famed for its 'Elephant Gathering' -a spectacular phenomenon during the long dry seasons when hundreds of elephants can be seen feeding on the grasslands bordering the tank while others cool off in its refreshing water. This annual event is a unique spectacle attracting hundreds of wildlife fanatics every year but elephants are present here year-round so you will have good chances of seeing them even if your travel dates do not coincide with the Elephant Gathering. After breakfast leave for Kandy via Dambulla, Nalanda and Matale. First visit Dambulla cave Temple. It is the Largest and best-preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka. The rock towers 160 m over the surrounding plains. There are more than 80 documented caves in the surrounding. Major attractions are spread over 5 caves, which contain statues and paintings. These paintings and statues are related to Lord Buddha and his life. There are a total of 153 Buddha statues, 3 statues of Sri Lankan kings and 4 statues of God and goddess. Then visit Gedige at Nalanda one of the remarkable archaeological sites in Sri Lanka & enjoying the Spice Garden at Matale and take part in a conducted tour to get some knowledge about the growth and use of spices in the day-to-day life. Visit the Temple of the Tooth for the evening ceremony. The stunning 17th-century Temple of the Tooth (Sri Dalada Maligawa) is said to house the upper left canine tooth of Buddha himself. After breakfast leave for Nuwara eliya, known as “Little England”. See the mountains covered with tea bushes and cascading waterfalls. Leave for Visit Tea factory, ever wondered what it would be like to pluck tea leaves? Yes, you can get tea plucking experience, a field experience awaits you as you walk among the lush tea gardens. Ladies can dress up as traditional tea plucker’s and gentlemen, as field workers. Departure to visit Horton Plains. Horton Plains National Park is the highest plateau in Sri Lanka and is home to a unique ecosystem, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The park's views are characterized by rolling grassy plains with occasional peaks, crowned by montane forests. Most of the animal and plant species are native to Sri Lanka. Among the many unique animal species are the chipmunk, the giant squirrel, the brown mongoose, the rhinoceros lizard, the pygmy lizard, and the black-cheeked lizard. The park is home to a healthy population of sambar deer, which are frequently seen grazing. The most popular and easiest hiking trail is the World's End & Baker's Falls Circular Trail. Transfer to Nanu Oya train station. Ride the scenic train to Ella. Ella is a small, relaxed town with stunning landscapes consisting of mountains, hills, and lush green tea plantations. The word "Ella" means waterfall, and the town lives up to its name, with numerous waterfalls in the area. The train ride through the picturesque hill country is one of the most beautiful discoveries in Sri Lanka. From the rim of the high mountains, you can survey the branching valleys of the mist-shrouded mountains, the sloping, lush green tea plantations, the house-studded villages, the dense forests, and the rushing waterfalls. After the breakfast at hotel leave for Tissa/ Yala. Visit the spectacular Ella Gap in the southern mountain wall, where the land drops in a dizzying 915 m (3000 ft) to the southern plains and the sea, which can be seen in the distance on a clear day. Visit to Rawana Ella Waterfall. In the afternoon you will go on a jeep safari in Yala National Park. Yala National Park is the second largest and most visited safari park in Sri Lanka, home to numerous wildlife species and known for its diverse ecosystems and rich biodiversity. It is located in an arid to semi-arid climate region that supports diverse ecosystems, from moist monsoon forests to freshwater and marine wetlands. Yala is home to 44 mammal species and 215 bird species, including seven endemic to the country. Its most famous residents include the world's largest concentration of leopards, majestic elephants, sloth bears, sambar hyenas, jackals, spotted dogs, peacocks, crocodiles, and wild buffalo. Departure to Udawalawe. Uda Walawe is probably the best place to see wild elephant herds, which consist of closely-knit family groups of up to four generations of adult and subadult females and young animals. The Park is also home to spotted deer, monitor lizards, sambar deer, wild boars, langurs, jackals, big cats and the endemic toque macaque. The Sri Lankan leopard has also been spotted here.
